Backend Software Engineer

About the role

MAZDIS is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to design, build and maintain the server‑side components that power its automated bicycle parking systems. You will work on APIs, data models and integrations that connect hardware devices, web services and internal tools, ensuring high performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain scalable backend services for automated bike parking solutions.
• Develop and optimise RESTful APIs, microservices and data models.
• Write clean, testable code and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Troubleshoot system issues and improve performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with front‑end engineers, hardware engineers and product stakeholders to translate requirements into robust solutions.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in computer science concepts such as data structures, algorithms and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in backend web development, including RESTful APIs, microservices and database‑driven applications.
• Experience with at least one modern backend language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, Go, Node.js).
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming and design patterns.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, schema design and query optimisation.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Comfort working with hardware‑integrated or IoT systems is advantageous.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
