About the role
eBay is seeking a self‑motivated Backend Software Engineer to join a fast‑moving, agile team. You will design, build, and maintain large‑scale distributed systems that support millions of daily transactions across the eCommerce platform.
Key responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, test, and deploy backend solutions aligned with business and technology strategies.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and team meetings.
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, and operations to deliver high‑performance, scalable, and reliable services.
- Drive architecture decisions, produce design documentation, and ensure code quality through refactoring and best‑practice adoption.
- Maintain and evolve the technology stack for systems handling over 1 billion requests per day.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with 5+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 4+ years of hands‑on experience building large‑scale distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of computer‑science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
- Proven ability to work in an agile environment focused on problem solving and engineering excellence.
Required skills
- Java/J2EE and object‑oriented design.
- Spring MVC framework.
- SQL and relational database systems.
- NoSQL databases at scale.
- Web services (REST/SOAP).
- Design patterns and distributed systems architecture.
