AVP Commercial Auto – Montreal

About the role

Zurich Canada is seeking an Assistant Vice President to lead its Commercial Auto underwriting team in Montreal. Reporting to the SVP, Commercial Auto, you will drive new business production, portfolio profitability and strong broker relationships while shaping underwriting strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead market‑facing underwriters to proactively source renewals and new accounts.
• Identify growth opportunities with key distributors and ensure accounts meet Zurich’s risk appetite.
• Oversee negotiations of terms and conditions, close deals and drive cross‑sell of additional products.
• Coach underwriters on sales best practices and mentor staff to build strong broker networks.
• Monitor sales funnel, production metrics and market trends, working with actuarial to maintain appropriate pricing.
• Manage relationships with producers through portfolio analysis to ensure profitability and growth.

Required profile

• High School Diploma with 7+ years underwriting/market‑facing experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in the same area.
• Minimum 2 years of management experience leading underwriting or sales teams.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
