Automotive Counter Clerk

About the role

The Counter Clerk provides front‑line service to retail and professional installer customers in an automotive parts store. You will identify, locate, and sell parts while delivering knowledgeable advice and ensuring smooth transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers in person and over the phone with professionalism.
• Identify required automotive parts using vehicle make, model and year.
• Advise customers on part selection, usage, and related accessories.
• Process cash, credit, check, return and exchange transactions accurately.
• Maintain the cash drawer and operate the POS system.
• Assist with freight receipt, stocking, merchandising, fronting/facing and store cleaning.
• Operate store equipment such as brake lathes, battery chargers and diagnostic tools.
• Perform occasional deliveries when driver’s‑license requirements are met.
• Support inventory cycle counts and monthly stock adjustments.
• Resolve customer concerns promptly and follow safety and company protocols.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in automotive parts, retail or customer service.
• Valid driver’s licence for occasional deliveries.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and stand for extended periods.
