Automobile Service Mechanic

About the role

Economy Muffler & Auto Repair is seeking an experienced Automobile Service Mechanic to join our fast‑paced shop in Edmonton. You will work on a variety of commercial trucks, trailers, and passenger vehicles, ensuring all systems meet manufacturer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Adjust, repair, or replace parts of commercial truck, trailer, and automotive systems.
• Inspect, test, and diagnose mechanical units to locate faults.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and major repairs, including engine overhaul, transmission work, and HVAC service.
• Estimate parts and labour costs and communicate findings to customers.
• Complete detailed service reports and coach apprentices.
• Provide high‑quality customer service and advise on future repair needs.

Required profile

• Trade certificate or diploma in automotive service or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of hands‑on experience with trucks and passenger vehicles.
• Valid driver’s licence, ability to drive manual transmission vehicles, and own transportation.
• Possession of safety equipment such as steel‑toed boots and personal tools.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork orientation.

Required skills

• Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification (Red Seal).
• Specializations: engine repair, diesel engines, 4‑wheel drive, electrical/electronic systems, diagnostics, alignment, steering, suspension, brake, hydraulic, fuel & emission, ignition, automatic & standard transmissions, drivetrain, welding, HVAC, and imported vehicle components.
• Certificates: Tire, Wheel & Rim Mechanic, Fuel & Electrical Systems, Steering, Suspension & Brakes, First Aid, WHMIS.
