Associate Lawyer – Insurance Litigation

About the role

Clyde & Co is seeking an Associate Lawyer to join its Insurance Litigation group in British Columbia. You will work on a full range of commercial dispute matters, including mediations, arbitrations, trials and appeals, while developing your expertise in general insurance and professional indemnity law.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal analysis and advice on general litigation matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, factums, pre‑trial and mediation memoranda.
• Conduct legal research and prepare correspondence for counsel and clients.
• Review documents, prepare for examinations for discovery, and attend mediations.
• Appear in court independently or with senior counsel to argue motions and attend pre‑trials.
• Assist or lead trial preparations and attend hearings.
• Participate in professional development events and practice‑management tasks.

Required profile

• Graduate of a recognized Common Law school and member in good standing with the B.C. Bar.
• 2–6 years of post‑qualification experience in private practice or in‑house, focusing on general insurance and professional indemnity.
• Strong advocacy talent, sound judgment and high integrity.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an entrepreneurial environment.
