Assistant/Associate Professor of Teaching – Civil Engineering (Tenure-Track)

About the role

The School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus is seeking a full‑time tenure‑stream faculty member in its Civil Engineering program. The appointment can be at the rank of Assistant Professor of Teaching (tenure‑track) or Associate Professor of Teaching (tenure‑track or tenured), with an anticipated start date of July 1 2027 or a mutually agreed date.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality undergraduate teaching in civil engineering courses, including lectures, labs and tutorials.
• Develop and continuously improve curriculum and instructional materials.
• Lead educational initiatives and contribute to program growth and accreditation activities.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
• Engage in scholarly teaching activities, such as pedagogical research and conference presentations.
• Participate in departmental, faculty and university service.

Required profile

• Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
• Eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, equity, diversity, inclusion and Indigenous reconciliation.
• Ability to contribute to the academic community and to collaborate with colleagues.
