Assistant Project Manager – Ground-Up ICI Construction

About the role

Our client, a well‑established general contractor in the Greater Toronto Area, is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of ground‑up industrial, commercial and institutional construction projects. You will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager throughout all construction phases, from planning to close‑out.
• Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, procurement plans and cost tracking.
• Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and on‑site teams.
• Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, shop drawings and change orders.
• Prepare project documentation, meeting minutes and progress reports.
• Monitor milestones, resolve scheduling or coordination issues, and manage contract administration.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and contractual requirements.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of experience in the Canadian construction industry, preferably on ground‑up ICI projects.
• Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications and project coordination.
• Excellent communication, organization and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with construction management software.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
