Assistant Professor (Teaching) – Real Estate

About the role

The Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary seeks a dynamic Assistant Professor (Teaching) to join its Real Estate Studies team. This two‑year contingent appointment will focus on delivering high‑quality undergraduate and graduate courses and guiding curriculum development in line with industry trends.

Key responsibilities

• Teach core and elective real‑estate courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, using daytime and evening formats.
• Lead curriculum design, continuous improvement, and the creation of new program initiatives.
• Serve as Academic Director of the Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies, overseeing program integrity and coordination.
• Engage with industry partners to ensure course content remains practice‑relevant.
• Participate in service activities that support program growth and student success.

Required profile

• Graduate‑level degree in a relevant field (MBA required; doctoral degree an asset).
• Significant, current professional experience in the real‑estate sector.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in post‑secondary teaching or strong potential for teaching excellence.
• Ability to teach introductory and foundational real‑estate courses.
• Collegial, collaborative approach with academic and industry colleagues.
