Assistant Professor – Library & Information Science

About the role

The College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky seeks an Assistant Professor (Special Title) in Library and Information Science. This nine‑month, tenure‑track appointment will support a fully online, ALA‑accredited master’s program and begin on August 16, 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Teach graduate courses in librarianship and related specializations, delivering instruction primarily through an online platform.
• Develop and maintain curriculum that reflects emerging trends in archives, health, school, and special libraries.
• Conduct scholarly research and publish in peer‑reviewed venues.
• Provide service to students, faculty, and community partners, including mentorship and professional practice guidance.
• Participate in departmental governance, accreditation activities, and outreach initiatives.

Required profile

• Earned Ph.D. (or ABD) in Library and Information Science preferred; candidates with a master’s degree and 10+ years of professional experience will also be considered.
• Demonstrated potential for leadership in teaching and professional practice within librarianship.
