Assistant Professor – Global Health Engineering (Tenure‑Track)

About the role

The Department of Medicine and the School of Biomedical Engineering at UBC invite an early‑career researcher to join as a tenure‑track Assistant Professor, focusing on Global Health Engineering and Equitable Health Technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a research program focused on developing, translating and evaluating innovative health technologies that improve outcomes and advance equity.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, communities and stakeholders to ensure solutions are scalable and responsive to real‑world needs.
• Leverage UBC research infrastructure, including the Biodevice Foundry, to accelerate prototyping and deployment.
• Contribute to teaching and mentorship within the Department of Medicine and the School of Biomedical Engineering.
• Provide service to departmental, faculty and broader academic communities.

Required profile

• Hold an MD and/or PhD and be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
• Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Limited Licensee with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
• Evidence of excellence or strong potential in research, teaching and mentorship.
• Established or emerging research program in Global Health Engineering or related fields.

What we offer

• Annual salary between $140,000 and $160,000 (CAD).
• Canada Impact+ Emerging Leaders funding of $100,000 per year for six years, renewable once.
