Assistant Professor – Democratic & Community Resilience

About the role

The Faculty of Arts at McGill University seeks a full‑time tenure‑track Assistant Professor to lead a research program on democratic and community resilience. The appointment will begin no later than 9 June 2027 in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and pursue an independent research agenda aligned with the democratic and community resilience priority.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and design new courses in your area of expertise.
• Supervise and mentor graduate students within the department.
• Contribute to the intellectual life of the university and engage with policy, regulation, and public‑interest media issues.

Required profile

• Must have been internationally based (outside Canada) on 9 June 2026 and be within five years of the start date of the first research‑related appointment.
• Hold a PhD (required for tenure‑track appointment) and demonstrate an independent research program.
• Eligibility for the Canada Impact+ Emerging Leader award, including the ability to account for eligible leaves in the application.
