Assistant Professor (Clinical) – Respiratory Medicine

About the role

The Department of Medicine, Division of Respiratory Medicine at McGill University is seeking a full‑time Clinician‑Teacher at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical) based at St. Mary’s Hospital Centre in Montreal. The appointment is a Contract Academic Staff position focused on delivering high‑quality clinical care, teaching medical trainees, and contributing to the university’s research and service missions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide regular outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and on‑call respiratory consulting, including supervision of learners on internal medicine teaching units.
• Deliver both didactic and bedside teaching for medical students, residents, and fellows, and participate in core Faculty teaching programs.
• Engage in clinical research, supervise graduate students, and contribute to academic committees and service activities.
• Maintain a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion within the department and the broader university community.

Required profile

• MD or MDCM degree with eligibility for licensure in Québec.
• Completed subspecialty training in Respiratory Medicine (Pulmonology) and certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Collège des médecins du Québec.
• At least one additional year of advanced clinical or research training, including experience with endobronchial ultrasound‑guided sampling (EBUS).
• Demonstrated competence in invasive pleural procedures.
• Master’s degree (or enrollment) in Medical Education and a strong commitment to an academic teaching career.
• Proficiency in English and French, or willingness to acquire necessary language skills for practice in Québec.
