Assistant General Manager

About the role

The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in delivering consistent, high‑quality service at Woodlyns, a new restaurant in Toronto’s midtown/Forest Hill area. This full‑time, on‑site position involves overseeing daily operations, coordinating staff, and ensuring compliance with company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager with staff scheduling, workflow coordination, and resource allocation.
• Monitor performance metrics, address operational issues, and drive process improvements.
• Supervise team members, support hiring, onboarding, and training activities.
• Manage inventory, maintain a safe workplace, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Handle escalated customer concerns and prepare operational reports for leadership.
• Collaborate with other departments to align operational activities with business goals.

Required profile

• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities with experience guiding staff performance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers, staff, and senior management.
• Problem‑solving mindset with the capacity to make quick decisions on operational issues.
• Organizational and time‑management skills, able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience in hospitality, retail, facilities, or multi‑unit operations management is an asset.
• Post‑secondary education in business, management, hospitality, or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
