About the role
We are looking for an experienced API Architect to shape and drive our enterprise API strategy. Based in Toronto, this hybrid role (three days on‑site) will provide technical leadership for building secure, reusable and high‑performance API ecosystems across the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Define and maintain API architecture standards, design patterns and governance frameworks.
- Design scalable, secure and reusable APIs using REST and micro‑services principles.
- Lead API‑led connectivity and integration modernization initiatives.
- Establish API lifecycle management, versioning, documentation and security standards.
- Implement API security mechanisms such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT and encryption.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, DevOps and application teams to promote API adoption and best practices.
- Evaluate, configure and manage API platforms, notably Azure API Management.
- Monitor and ensure API performance, reliability and scalability.
Required profile
- 6‑8 years of experience designing and governing enterprise‑wide APIs.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership and influence cross‑functional teams.
- Strong understanding of integration patterns and modern API‑centric architectures.
