About the role
Scotiabank is looking for an Android Developer to join its Digital Banking Unit. You will help create world‑class mobile experiences that reach millions of customers daily, while working in an inclusive, high‑performing culture.
Key responsibilities
- Champion a customer‑focused culture and deepen client relationships.
- Collaborate with product owners and analysts to refine ticket requirements in JIRA and Confluence.
- Review pull requests, implement documented designs, and ensure high‑quality code.
- Work closely with Android, iOS, and backend developers on new features and incremental improvements to the flagship mobile app.
- Maintain coding conventions, architecture, and best practices; review peers’ code and provide constructive feedback.
- Balance user experience, performance, and security while respecting the bank’s risk appetite.
- Support compliance with internal policies, AML/ATF, and other regulatory requirements.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of professional Android development experience.
- Strong knowledge of Kotlin and Java, RxJava, Dagger, and Android Studio.
- Familiarity with MVVM, clean‑code principles, unit testing, accessibility, and analytics.
- Proficient with Git version control and software engineering fundamentals.
- Experience integrating third‑party SDKs and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Comfortable using JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
