Air Engineering Specialist – Environmental Consulting

About the role

R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited is seeking an Air Engineering Specialist to join its Air & Noise Group. The position can be based in Mississauga, Newmarket or Pickering and reports to the Senior Air & Noise Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Air Quality Impact Assessments for MECP submission supporting Environmental Assessments, ECAs, EASRs and land‑use compatibility studies.
• Collect and evaluate field data and background information to underpin robust engineering analyses.
• Perform detailed technical calculations, interpret modelling results and document findings.
• Develop, calibrate and refine dispersion models using AERMOD and advanced Excel tools.
• Prepare and review Land Use Compatibility studies with a focus on regulatory compliance.
• Support troubleshooting and optimisation of air‑monitoring and construction‑monitoring equipment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues and contribute to a high‑performing technical team.
• Assist with additional project or team needs as required.

Required profile

• Degree in an engineering discipline.
• Strong attention to detail and high standards for technical deliverables.
• Solid mathematical aptitude and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisational abilities with capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Comfort working in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary consulting environment.
