About the role
Huawei Canada’s Smart Grid Technology Lab is seeking an AI Software Developer to create intelligent tools for real‑time simulation, microgrid energy management, and control systems. You will work on cutting‑edge AI applications that help modernize the digital power industry.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop AI tools and applications for smart‑grid and energy‑management systems.
- Integrate machine‑learning models into production software platforms.
- Build scalable backend services and APIs for data processing, analysis, and control.
- Collaborate with researchers to translate algorithms into deployable solutions.
- Handle large‑scale data from simulations, sensors, and energy systems.
- Contribute to system architecture, performance optimisation, and deployment.
Required profile
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, and/or C++.
- Experience with machine learning and modern AI frameworks.
- Solid software‑engineering fundamentals (data structures, system design, APIs).
- Basic understanding of power systems or smart‑grid concepts (preferred).
