After School Program Mentor for Children (Ages 4‑12)

About the role

BGC St. Alban's Club is seeking enthusiastic, energetic individuals to join its STARS After‑School program at McMurrich Junior Public School. As a Program Mentor you will provide a safe, supportive environment for children aged 4‑12, delivering education, recreation, sports, health, nutrition, mentoring and arts activities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organize and lead groups of children, creating fun, inclusive activities.
• Maintain a safe environment, conduct headcounts, and ensure equipment is in good condition.
• Complete administrative tasks such as attendance tracking.
• Develop age‑appropriate, non‑competitive programs that are innovative and skill‑based.
• Respond to critical incidents and follow club safety and Covid‑19 protocols.
• Participate in staff training, orientation and ongoing professional development.
• Handle conflicts and behavior management using trained corrective techniques.
• Report to the Program Manager and perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Relevant educational background and experience working with children 4‑12 years old.
• Strong supervision, program planning, decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
• Skills in sports, arts, recreation, health, nutrition or related areas.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR‑C certification.
• COVID‑19 vaccination and police reference check.
• Completion of HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development training.
