Adult Psychiatrist – Rural Community Hospital

About the role

Two full‑time Adult Psychiatrist positions are available in a welcoming rural community setting. You will join a collaborative mental health team and work closely with family practitioners to provide urgent consultative support to Kootenay Lake Hospital and its emergency department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric consults for medical/surgical units and the emergency department at Kootenay Lake Hospital.
• Collaborate with local family practitioners to develop and implement integrated care models and a patient medical home.
• Participate in regional call services for Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, if desired.
• Engage in leadership development through Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program.

Required profile

• Medical degree with psychiatry specialization; eligible for licensure in British Columbia.
• Ability to work in a rural setting and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Interest in innovative integrated care models and community‑focused mental health services.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in adult psychiatry.
• Experience with urgent psychiatric consultation in hospital settings.

What we offer

• Compensation between $300,000 and $400,000 per year.
• Additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement, including retention premium and flat fee.
• Relocation funding of $9,000‑$15,000 and a $15,000 recruitment incentive.
