Accounting Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Finance, IT & People Engagement, the Accounting Manager leads the Finance team in a hybrid Toronto setting. The role ensures accurate, complete and up‑to‑date accounting records for a not‑for‑profit organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day accounting activities, month‑end and year‑end closing, ensuring compliance with funder contracts, Catalyse+ policies and Canadian GAAP.
• Supervise a small Finance team, reviewing and approving journal entries, account reconciliations and other work products.
• Provide orientation training and guidance to departmental staff and in‑country representatives on financial policies and compliance.
• Prepare program‑specific financial documents such as invoices, A/R aging reports and advisor advances.
• Coordinate with external auditors, prepare working papers and respond to audit inquiries.
• Implement and enforce internal control policies and liaise with banks or other service providers.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities and contribute to special projects, including tax filings.
• Support organizational initiatives related to finance process enhancements.

Required profile

• CPA (CGA/CMA/CA) designation.
• 3‑5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in not‑for‑profit or government‑contract environments.
• Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Bilingual English/French preferred.
