Accountant

About the role

Horizon Legacy is seeking a diligent Accountant to manage day‑to‑day financial records, support month‑end and year‑end close processes, and ensure compliance with government reporting requirements. The role involves handling both payable and receivable functions, general bookkeeping, and administrative finance tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, verify coding, prepare payment runs (EFTs, cheques, wire transfers) and reconcile vendor statements.
• Issue customer invoices, record payments, monitor overdue balances and reconcile customer accounts.
• Record daily transactions, maintain the general ledger, post journal entries, and reconcile bank, credit‑card and other balance‑sheet accounts.
• Complete assigned account reconciliations, prepare supporting schedules for month‑end close, and assist with year‑end working papers.
• Prepare GST/HST returns, maintain supporting records for government reporting, and respond to external accountant requests.
• Maintain electronic and paper accounting files, organize financial documentation, and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Accounting (or equivalent education).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
