Accountant – Investment Accounting (Hybrid, Toronto)

About the role

We are partnering with an investment firm to add an Accountant to their collaborative finance team in downtown Toronto. The role offers exposure to investment accounting, a hybrid work model and a 12‑month contract with competitive compensation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full‑cycle accounting including journal entries, reconciliations and month‑end/year‑end close.
• Prepare bank reconciliations, working papers, financial statements and adjusting entries.
• Record and reconcile investment transactions for public and private investments.
• Generate intercompany invoices and maintain accounting records for multiple entities.
• Account for foreign‑currency transactions and recognize FX gains and losses.
• Prepare supporting schedules for tax compliance, audits and management reporting.
• Reconcile corporate credit‑card expenses and review employee expense reports.
• Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
• 3–5 years of full‑cycle accounting experience.
• CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA is an asset.
• Experience with Sage 300 or a comparable ERP system.
• Strong knowledge of ASPE; US GAAP or IFRS is a plus.

Required skills

• Sage 300 (or comparable) ERP.
• Advanced Excel – VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables.
• ASPE accounting standards.
• US GAAP (asset).
• IFRS (asset).
• Foreign‑currency transaction accounting.
