Accountant – Finance Operations (Canada & US)

About the role

Green and Spiegel, a leading immigration law firm, is seeking an Accountant to manage payments, banking, and accounting activities for both Canadian and U.S. offices. Reporting to the CFO, you will ensure accurate financial processing and support the firm’s diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Process incoming payments, handle banking requirements, and perform monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts.
• Respond to external inquiries on invoices, statements, and account balances for Canadian operations.
• Collaborate with billing and legal teams to follow up on outstanding invoices, review aged receivables, and support collection efforts.
• Maintain compliance with Law Society of Ontario standards.
• Manage U.S. office accounting using QuickBooks, resolve invoicing issues, and prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis.
• Handle property management accounting, including rent deposits and accounts payable.
• Prepare audit files, client billing, A/R reports, and respond to invoice edits and credit memos.
• Process vendor payments through QuickBooks Online, vendor portals, and online banking platforms.
• Investigate variances and discrepancies to ensure report accuracy.

Required profile

• University degree or college diploma in accounting or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in a professional services environment.
• Working towards an accounting designation is preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced setting.

Required skills

• QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks desktop.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
