Accountant – Brantford, ON

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance team in Brantford, ON. The role is full‑time onsite (5 days a week) on a 3‑month contract with a strong likelihood of extension. You will support month‑end close, cash management, payroll and tax compliance while providing insightful financial analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Execute month‑end closing on a 4‑4‑5 weekly schedule and prepare journal entries.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations, including bank and intercompany accounts.
• Supervise junior accountant work, reviewing entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare and present monthly variance analysis with commentary.
• Compile annual budget schedules and support forecasting.
• File HST/GST, Sales & Use tax returns and assist with quarterly tax provisions.
• Maintain compliance with SOX and internal controls, supporting internal and external audits.
• Record intercompany transactions and reconcile multi‑entity, multi‑currency balances.

Required profile

• Senior‑level accountant with 5+ years of experience (minimum 3 years in a public‑company environment).
• Full‑cycle accounting expertise, including GST returns, audits and bank reconciliations.
• Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in preparing financial statements and budgets.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (V‑lookups, pivot tables).
• SOX compliance knowledge.
• Experience with CMS ERP systems.
• Multi‑entity and multi‑currency accounting.
• Canadian payroll processing.
• HST/GST filing.
• Familiarity with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) consolidation.
