Able Seaman (AB) – Deck Operations on Floatel

About the role

The Able Seaman (AB) supports the daily operations and maintenance of a floatel docked alongside in Squamish, BC. Working under deck officers, the AB ensures safe deck handling, guest comfort, and overall vessel readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in deck operations, including mooring, berthing and securing the floatel.
• Handle lines and facilitate safe transfer of guests, crew and supplies.
• Maintain and repair deck equipment such as lifeboats, winches and gangways.
• Keep the deck area clean, orderly and ready for operations.
• Follow and enforce safety protocols; participate in drills and inspect safety gear.
• Provide guest assistance during embarkation, disembarkation and stay, handling luggage and responding to inquiries.
• Support general maintenance tasks, including cleaning, painting and minor repairs.
• Maintain accurate logs and reports related to deck activities and safety.

Required profile

• Willingness to work under the supervision of deck officers.
• Strong focus on safety and ability to follow maritime regulations.
• Physical ability to handle lines, equipment and perform manual tasks.
• Good communication skills for interacting with guests and crew.
