3rd/4th Year Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Apprentice

About the role

Wildstone Construction is looking for a motivated 3rd or 4th year Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Apprentice to join its service and installation team on commercial and light‑industrial projects across Western Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Assist journeypersons with installation, piping, start‑up and commissioning of RTUs, split systems, heat pumps, condensers and evaporators.
• Fabricate and install refrigerant and condensate piping (copper, steel, PVC) – cutting, bending, threading, brazing, pressure testing, evacuation and charging under supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance such as coil cleaning, filter changes, belt inspections, lubrication and basic electrical/control checks.
• Handle refrigerants, tools and test instruments safely in line with regulations and company procedures.

Required profile

• Registered 3rd or 4th year Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic apprentice (or equivalent) in good standing.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on HVAC/R experience on commercial or light‑industrial installations.
• Valid driver’s licence with acceptable driving abstract and ability to travel to multiple job sites.

Required skills

• Refrigeration piping fabrication and brazing.
• Nitrogen purging, leak testing and system cleanliness practices.
• Reading mechanical, electrical and control schematics and piping drawings.
• Use of gauges, multimeters, probes and basic electrical/control troubleshooting.
