2D Generalist for Mobile Game Studio

About the role

IGG Canada is looking for a skilled 2D Generalist to join its mobile game art team. You will translate design requirements into high‑quality concept art and support the visual direction of a 3D simulation mobile game. The role is fully on‑site at the Vancouver studio and reports to the Lead 2D Artist.

Key responsibilities

• Create character and environment concepts that match the stylized 3D cartoon art direction.
• Develop organic and hard‑surface textures for characters, props, and environments.
• Produce rendered 2D assets, mood paintings, animation designs, and prop concepts to support the 3D pipeline.
• Rapidly sketch and refine digital illustrations, including screenshot paint‑overs and retakes.
• Communicate visual ideas clearly, iterate on feedback, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Portfolio demonstrating strong character and environment artwork in a stylized cartoon style.
• Ability to iterate quickly on concepts with input from the Team Lead.
• Strong understanding of mood, lighting, form, shape, and composition.
• Self‑motivated, effective communicator, and enthusiastic team player.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Photoshop.
• Proficiency with Painter or equivalent digital painting tools.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as Gemini and ChatGPT (considered an asset).

• Annual salary $55,000‑$90,000 CAD, negotiable based on experience.
