Union Remittance Specialist / Payroll Accountant

About the role

The Union Remittance Specialist/Payroll Accountant will ensure that union dues, funds and benefit payments are processed accurately and on time for both Canadian and U.S. payroll operations. This position supports a high‑volume environment, with the bulk of activity occurring in the first two weeks of each month.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reconciliation processes between Dayforce and DIS.
• Calculate, prepare and issue union remittance documents using both automated and manual systems.
• Compile union dues, funds and benefit data from DIS and payroll reports.
• Prepare monthly union remittance statements and reports.
• Enter manual union tables into DIS and Dayforce.
• Partner with the Payroll Manager to resolve data and reporting issues.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise on union remittances, payments and reconciliations.
• Respond to inquiries from employees and unions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a high‑volume union payroll environment supporting at least 2,000 employees.
• Experience with Dayforce or a comparable payroll platform.
• Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables and complex reconciliation formulas.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Ability to work overtime to meet critical deadlines.
