Staff Nurse – Renal Dialysis (Band 5)

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is recruiting a Band 5, NMC‑registered Staff Nurse to join the Renal Dialysis Unit at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This fixed‑term, 12‑month position works 18 hours per week across long days from Monday to Saturday, providing haemodialysis services to out‑patients.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to renal out‑patients in a friendly, multidisciplinary team.
• Perform technical procedures including management of tunnelled central venous catheters, cannulation of AV fistulas, and operation of NIKKISO dialysis machines.
• Maintain a positive atmosphere and support teamwork within the unit.
• Participate in training, mentorship and continuous professional development activities.

Required profile

• NMC registration.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Evidence of continued professional development and willingness to innovate.
• Post‑registration qualification or equivalent clinical expertise is desirable.
• Ability to make effective decisions and adapt to flexible working patterns.

Required skills

• Tunnelled central venous catheter management.
• AV fistula cannulation.
• Operation of NIKKISO dialysis machines.
