Staff Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a well‑rounded Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team in Montreal. The role starts with ownership of the accounts receivable and payable cycles and expands to month‑end close, inventory tracking, and tax compliance, offering a clear path to Senior Accountant.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and send AR invoices, apply correct sales taxes, and manage customer deposits.
• Perform bank reconciliations, follow up on invoices, and support collections.
• Process AP invoices, verify vendor bank details, and handle international payments.
• Participate in month‑end close, prepare journal entries, and reconcile accounts.
• Track monthly inventory, lead physical counts, and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure Canadian GST/HST/PST and US Sales & Use tax compliance and support filing.
• Assist with audit preparation and annual financial review.
• Maintain donation receipts, support AR/AP automation, and handle ad‑hoc accounting tasks.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 4+ years of experience covering AR, AP and general accounting.
• Strong understanding of the full accounting cycle and month‑end close.
• Audit experience and familiarity with annual financial review.
• Knowledge of Canadian sales taxes (GST/HST/PST) and US Sales & Use tax.

Required skills

• Proficiency with an ERP system (Odoo or comparable).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Pivot Tables).
• Experience with inventory tracking and reconciliation.
