Sport Information & Game Day Operations Coordinator

About the role

The University of British Columbia Okanagan is seeking a dedicated Sport Information & Game Day Operations Coordinator to manage statistical reporting and live‑game operations for its varsity teams. This full‑time position supports conference and national sport requirements, produces game previews and recaps, and maintains the UBCO Heat website.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, verify and distribute sport statistics in accordance with Canada West and U SPORTS regulations.
• Oversee technical delivery on game days, including live‑score systems and broadcast support.
• Write and edit game previews, post‑game recaps and feature stories highlighting athletic programs.
• Maintain and update the UBCO Heat website and related communication channels.
• Train, schedule and supervise a small team of student employees.
• Collaborate with the Marketing & Community Engagement Strategist to build media and public relations.
• Attend home games and other events, working evenings and weekends as required.

Required profile

• Strong grasp of score‑keeping and statistical notation, with the ability to learn sport‑specific stats software quickly.
• Experience supervising student staff or volunteers.
• Excellent written communication skills for previews, recaps and feature articles.
• Ability to work flexible, non‑standard hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Team‑oriented mindset and willingness to collaborate across athletics, marketing and recreation departments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with live‑game statistical software.
• Website content‑management experience.
