Software Engineer, Region Flexibility Engineering

About the role

Amazon’s Regional Flexibility Engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer who is passionate about service‑oriented architectures and enjoys building highly distributed, scalable systems. You will work on both front‑end and back‑end services that support Amazon Stores, Digital and Others (SDO) businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain front‑end and back‑end services that scale to thousands of Amazon engineers.
• Solve algorithmically complex problems and create abstractions that simplify software development across Amazon.
• Collaborate with SDO teams to advise on infrastructure setup using AWS technologies.
• Influence product design by selecting highly available and scalable technologies.
• Work closely with a Principal Engineering community and cross‑cutting teams.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software language.
• Preferred: 3+ years covering the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
