Senior Utility Engineer

About the role

DSEL is looking for a self‑motivated Senior Engineer to lead utility coordination, design review and construction support for municipal and development projects. The role provides technical leadership across all phases of utility infrastructure delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead utility coordination and develop Composite Utility Plans.
• Prepare, stamp and review engineering drawings, specifications and utility designs for constructability and compliance.
• Prepare and review cost estimates, schedules, budgets and forecasts for utility works.
• Coordinate with municipalities, utility agencies, contractors, developers and regulators to obtain approvals.
• Provide technical support during planning, design, tendering, construction and close‑out.
• Assist in preparing tender documents, technical specifications and contract documents.
• Manage contract administration, including tender evaluation, progress payments and issue resolution.
• Conduct site visits, inspections and verify construction progress.
• Mentor junior staff and support internal project teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years experience in municipal engineering, utility coordination or construction administration.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• P.Eng. designation in Ontario.
• Strong understanding of municipal utility standards and regulations.
• Valid transportation and ability to travel to project sites.
