Senior Project Manager – Heavy Industrial Construction

About the role

Our client, a leading industrial contractor operating across Canada, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead heavy‑industrial construction and maintenance projects in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Based in Sherwood Park, the role oversees projects from pre‑construction through shutdown and brownfield execution, ensuring safety, quality and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead industrial construction and maintenance projects from pre‑construction to final hand‑over.
• Manage budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, subcontractor coordination and overall project performance.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact.
• Monitor progress, identify risks early and propose proactive solutions.
• Prepare and present cost reports, schedules, forecasts and performance updates to senior management.
• Coordinate field operations to deliver projects safely, efficiently and within scope.
• Mentor Project Managers, Coordinators and junior staff on best‑practice delivery.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental standards and quality requirements.

Required profile

• 15+ years progressive experience in heavy industrial construction, turnaround maintenance and project management.
• 5–10 years field construction experience on industrial projects.
• Degree, diploma, trade certification or equivalent technical training.
• Proven track record managing maintenance, shutdowns and brownfield construction scopes.
• Strong background in budgeting, scheduling, project controls, forecasting, risk management and contract administration.
• Experience leading client‑facing communications and long‑term stakeholder relationships.
• Leadership, mentoring and team‑management capabilities.
• Familiarity with industrial HS&E regulations, quality standards and execution best practices.
• Project Management certification or formal PM training is an asset.
