Senior Manager, Media Relations

About the role

UNICEF Canada is seeking a strategic storyteller to lead its media relations function. As the senior point of contact for journalists, you will shape the narrative around children’s rights and ensure the organization’s voice is heard across Canada and globally.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive media strategies that amplify UNICEF Canada’s impact.
• Serve as the primary contact for journalists, providing insight, access, and commentary.
• Monitor the media landscape, assess risks and opportunities, and coordinate timely responses.
• Protect and strengthen the public reputation of UNICEF Canada through proactive reputation management.
• Collaborate with global and national teams to uncover compelling stories and align messaging.

Required profile

• Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or communications, preferably in fast‑paced environments.
• Proven ability to translate complex issues into clear, engaging narratives.
• Strong crisis communication skills and experience managing media inquiries.
• Passion for the mission of UNICEF and understanding of the non‑profit sector.
