Road Service Technician – Vancouver

About the role

Johnston Equipment is seeking a hands‑on Road Service Technician to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on lift trucks and carousel systems at customer locations across Vancouver. The role blends technical expertise with direct customer interaction, ensuring equipment reliability and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on material handling equipment.
• Inspect trucks for operational integrity and identify defective mechanical or electrical components.
• Diagnose issues using technical manuals and order required parts.
• Document breakdowns and analysis according to standard procedures.
• Communicate repair solutions and next steps clearly to customers.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3‑5 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role.
• Truck and Coach 310S Certification or Heavy Duty Technician Certification.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in battery‑ and engine‑powered material handling equipment.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Mechanical systems troubleshooting.
• Electrical diagnostic tools.
• Use of hand tools, measuring devices, dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, hoists and jacks.
• Lock‑out/Tag‑out safety procedures.
• Interpretation of technical manuals and procedures.
