Prosecuting Attorney – Disciplinary and Regulatory Law

About the role

The Ordre des dentistes du Québec seeks a senior Prosecuting Attorney to join its Syndic’s Office. This position blends disciplinary law, administrative litigation, and statutory penal law, offering a dynamic environment for a litigation lawyer who enjoys strategic advocacy before tribunals and regulatory bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the syndic and assistant syndics throughout all stages of disciplinary proceedings.
• Represent the Order before disciplinary councils, the Professions Tribunal, Superior Court, and other relevant bodies.
• Handle cases involving illegal practice and title misuse.
• Conduct case‑law and doctrinal research on disciplinary and ethical matters.
• Draft legal opinions, submissions, regulations, and strategic documents.
• Advise internal stakeholders on professional practice, ethical issues, and access‑to‑information legislation.
• Participate in negotiations, settlements, and maintain jurisprudential reference tools.

Required profile

• Member in good standing of the Québec Bar.
• Minimum 7 years of litigation and advocacy experience.
• Experience before administrative bodies or courts of law.
• Knowledge of disciplinary law (strong asset) and a graduate degree in health law or related discipline (asset).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.

• Experience using legal software for case management and research.
