About the role
The University of Ottawa, in partnership with World University Service of Canada (WUSC), is offering a one‑year postdoctoral fellowship to investigate access to higher education for displaced students in Canadian post‑secondary institutions. The fellow will join the UnborderED Knowledge research project, which examines how refugee‑student programs influence institutional practices.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct interdisciplinary research on the WUSC Student Refugee Program and its impact on higher‑education access.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data from program participants and institutions.
- Prepare academic papers, policy briefs, and knowledge‑mobilisation materials.
- Collaborate with co‑supervisors at WUSC and the University of Ottawa and contribute to project meetings.
- Present findings at conferences, workshops, and stakeholder events.
Required profile
- PhD awarded within the last five years (or equivalent).
- Lived experience of forced displacement.
- Legal right to work in Canada and residency for the contract duration.
- Full fluency in English and French.

What we offer
- Annual salary of $55,000 CAD plus benefits.
- Potential research or mobility stipends and funding for knowledge‑mobilisation activities.
- Opportunity to work remotely or in a hybrid mode with occasional on‑site engagement in Ottawa.
