Platform Engineer

About the role

LawZero, a nonprofit focused on AI safety, is looking for a Platform Engineer to own the platform layer that connects researchers to GPU infrastructure. You will design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments while embedding security and observability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes clusters for research workloads on‑premise and in the cloud, including autoscaling and network policies.
• Define and enforce CI/CD best practices with automated builds, tests, container image creation, security scanning and provenance.
• Manage cloud environments as code (Terraform or equivalent) covering accounts, networking, identity, secrets and cost visibility.
• Build internal services such as artifact and container registries to support research and data teams.
• Implement observability (metrics, logs, traces, alerts) using Prometheus and Grafana and embed security controls throughout.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps or SRE roles.
• Strong security mindset: least‑privilege IAM, secret management, supply‑chain integrity and auditability.
• Ability to work end‑to‑end in a small team, communicating clearly with researchers and handling multiple priorities.
