Plant Operator – St Romuald

About the role

Air Liquide is seeking a Plant Operator to join its air separation facility in St Romuald. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the air‑separation plant and its pipeline backup system, handling start‑up, normal operation, and shut‑down.
• Perform performance tests, monitor equipment, and make maintenance recommendations.
• Supervise subcontractors, respond to equipment breakdowns, and carry out small maintenance projects with supervisor approval.
• Follow lock‑out procedures, wear protective equipment, and act as first responder in emergencies.
• Complete incident reports, daily production data, and other administrative documentation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to analyse processes, identify problems, and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• High school diploma with relevant experience or a college diploma in petrochemistry or a related field.
• Training in ISO quality systems.
• Knowledge of compressed and cryogenic gases, air‑separation processes, and refrigeration units.
• Familiarity with WHMIS, hazardous‑material handling, and safe work practices.
• Strong oral and written communication, basic mathematics, and proficiency with MS Office and computerized plant systems.
