Pharmacy Assistant – Hospital Sterile Products

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to support the Sterile Products Pharmacy. Working under the Drug Distribution Manager and a pharmacist, you will ensure safe and efficient handling of pharmaceuticals across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Procure, store, and manage inventory of pharmaceuticals.
• Record, manufacture, compound, dispense, package, label, price, issue, and distribute medications according to departmental policies.
• Operate and support Automated Dispensing Cabinets and related distribution processes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory standards.
• Travel to other WRHA sites as required and work flexible shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.

Required profile

• Grade 12 completion and graduation from a recognized pharmacy assistant program.
• One year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting (preferred).
• Pharmacy Technician Certificate from a recognized program.
• Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
• Ability to perform standing, lifting, repetitive motions and fine‑motor tasks.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinet distribution processes.
• Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and related software.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations.
