Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Excelsense Technologies is seeking a mid‑level Mechanical / Industrial Design Engineer to evolve its patented Clearsight™ self‑cleaning optical systems. You will translate concept requirements into rugged, production‑ready hardware for industrial sensor applications.

Key responsibilities

• Rapidly evaluate engineering concepts with a focus on mechanical design.
• Own hardware development from requirements gathering through low‑rate production hand‑off.
• Perform hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to develop and optimise designs.
• Build, test and analyse prototypes, execute hardware test plans, and drive successful projects toward production.
• Integrate complex thermal solutions, electro‑mechanical hardware, PCBAs and cabling/harnesses.
• Support customer‑facing hardware demonstrations and travel to test sites, vendors and demos as needed.
• Lead design reviews, visit vendors and define hardware test strategies.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of mechanical/electro‑mechanical product development experience.
• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Design or a related field.
• Proven ability to take a product from concept to low‑rate production.
• Strong organisational, leadership and autonomous working skills.

Required skills

• CAD proficiency (any platform) and creation of high‑quality engineering drawings.
• Hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
• Integration of PCBAs and other electronics into mechanical systems.
• Thermal analysis and electro‑mechanical hardware design.
• Hands‑on fabrication, prototype building and root‑cause troubleshooting.
