Junior Industrial Process Engineer (EIT) – Halifax or Fredericton

About the role

We are looking for an Engineer‑in‑Training or junior industrial process engineer to join CBCL’s industrial team in Atlantic Canada. The role provides hands‑on experience in pulp and paper, forestry and tissue manufacturing facilities, supporting projects from data collection through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Support process engineering assignments for pulp and paper, forestry, tissue and related industrial facilities.
• Prepare deliverables such as process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, mass and energy balances, process calculations and technical reports.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, structural, civil and automation specialists to ensure coordinated project delivery.
• Assist feasibility studies, process optimisation, plant expansions, modernisation projects and operational improvement initiatives.
• Participate in field reviews, equipment evaluations, data collection and plant performance assessments.
• Provide support during construction, commissioning and startup activities under senior supervision.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Registered Engineer‑in‑Training or eligible for registration with APEGNB.
• 2–4 years of experience in industrial process engineering, preferably in pulp and paper.
• Strong communication, organization and problem‑solving abilities and a willingness to learn.

Required skills

• Creation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs.
• Mass and energy balance calculations.
• Process calculations and equipment selection.
• Technical report writing and proposal preparation.
