IT Summer Student – Hands‑On Technical Support Role

About the role

Join our IT team as a Summer Student and gain hands‑on experience supporting daily operations. You will work closely with IT professionals, helping maintain systems, troubleshoot issues, and assist employees across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day technical support, troubleshooting hardware, software, and deskside issues such as docking stations, monitors, and peripherals.
• Assist with onboarding and offboarding by setting up workstations, equipment, and system access.
• Support configuration, maintenance, and simple repair or refurbishment of laptops, desktops, and mobile devices.
• Monitor system notifications (VPN, server status) and escalate issues as needed.
• Help maintain the server room: organization, cleaning, labeling, cable management, port tracing, and updating network floor maps.
• Maintain IT equipment inventory, track assets, and coordinate repair, refurbishment, disposal, or storage.
• Update IT documentation, process data tracking/reporting, and assist with administrative tasks.
• Perform basic network account support and assist with data/file archiving to manage storage capacity.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong interest in IT systems, troubleshooting, and technical support.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Windows environments.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication, team‑oriented mindset, high attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
