Graphic Designer – Visual Communications

About the role

The Graphic Designer supports McGill University’s visual identity and institutional communications. Reporting to the Associate Director, Creative Services, the role creates high‑quality print and digital materials that strengthen the brand and engage diverse audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design and produce marketing and communications assets that align with brand standards, including print collateral, website graphics, email campaigns, and social media visuals.
• Manage multiple projects from concept through delivery, develop schedules and budgets, and coordinate with printers, photographers, videographers, and external vendors.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, academic units, advancement teams, and external partners to translate complex information into clear visual formats.
• Support multimedia initiatives such as motion graphics and video projects when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in higher education or a complex institutional environment.
• Fluent in English and French with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
• Experience with presentation design software (PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of web and digital design best practices and accessibility standards.
