First Nations Lawyer

About the role

Our client, a leading Indigenous law practice in Vancouver, is seeking an experienced First Nations Lawyer to provide counsel on governance, treaty and related matters for First Nations clients.

Key responsibilities

• Advise First Nations governments and organizations on legal matters, including governance and treaty issues.
• Support negotiations with government and industry stakeholders.
• Draft agreements, policies, and legal opinions for Indigenous community clients.
• Build and maintain long‑term relationships with First Nations clients.
• Collaborate with colleagues across related practice areas such as lands, resources and litigation.

Required profile

• Called to the Bar in British Columbia and in good standing.
• 5+ years of experience in Indigenous law or a closely related field.
• Genuine interest in and sensitivity to working with Indigenous communities.
• Willingness to travel to community meetings as required.

Required skills

• Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy abilities.
