Financial Controller

About the role

HazTrack is seeking a Financial Controller to build and manage the financial infrastructure of a fast‑growing IoT startup that services the used cooking oil collection market. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own daily accounting operations while designing scalable systems that support cross‑border growth and future fundraising.

Key responsibilities

• Execute full‑cycle accounting: accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and month‑end close.
• Deliver timely management and financial reporting, including investor‑ready reports.
• Manage CAD/USD foreign‑exchange exposure for a primarily US‑denominated revenue base.
• Own US multi‑state sales‑tax compliance, nexus analysis, registration, and filings.
• Lead ERP evaluation, selection, and implementation, designing chart of accounts, workflows, and SOPs.
• Eliminate manual processes through automation and infrastructure improvements.
• Oversee revenue recognition for hardware, software, and services.
• Establish capital‑asset tracking, depreciation schedules, and write‑off frameworks for field devices.
• Build reporting and forecasting tools that reflect unit economics at scale.
• Manage the procure‑to‑pay workflow, including vendor onboarding and purchase orders.
