Field Technician

About the role

DS Consultants Ltd., a BluMetric company, is seeking a Field Technician to join its Vaughan office. The role supports civil and geotechnical engineering projects by delivering on‑site and laboratory testing services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections, material sampling and in‑situ testing of soil, asphalt and concrete using a nuclear gauge.
• Perform laboratory testing, data collection and supervision of geotechnical work on projects of varying complexity.
• Identify soil and rock types, assist junior staff, and prepare field reports.
• Ensure health and safety practices are followed at all times.

Required profile

• Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Technologist diploma or Civil Engineering degree.
• Minimum two years of field experience in soil, asphalt compaction, concrete testing and subgrade evaluation.
• Professional certifications such as C.Tech, C.E.T., A.Sc.T., P.Eng or eligibility for Engineer‑in‑Training.
• Valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.

Required skills

• Soil, asphalt and concrete testing (including nuclear gauge operation).
• Use of geotechnical software and familiarity with MTO, ASTM and OPSS standards.
• Microsoft Office and general computer proficiency.
