Executive Communications Lead

About the role

The Executive Communications Lead crafts strategic, persuasive, and engaging messaging that reflects Toronto Hydro’s voice, vision, and leadership. You will produce executive speeches, thought‑leadership articles, board‑level communications, and social‑media content that strengthen the organization’s visibility, reputation, and brand across the city.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior leaders to develop and deliver compelling communications across multiple channels, including speeches, articles, and key messages.
• Elevate Toronto Hydro’s profile through strategic storytelling that highlights business priorities and industry insights.
• Create clear, creative narratives that showcase corporate strategies, initiatives, and values.
• Apply strong editorial judgment to ensure high standards of grammar, clarity, and tone.
• Maintain consistency with brand voice, style guidelines, and organizational values while being sensitive to customer needs.
• Support issues and crisis communications planning and response as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
• 10+ years of corporate communications experience, including at least 5 years working directly with senior leaders.
• Strong political acumen and proven ability to write and edit content for executives.
• Experience preparing speeches, key messages, and content for diverse audiences and channels.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Familiarity with the utilities industry is an asset; postgraduate education in Communications or Public Affairs is preferred.
